Geitonogamy

  1. Geitonogamy is the transfer of pollen to the stigma of another flower of the same plant.

  2. Functionally cross-pollination but pollen grains are genetically identical.

  3. Examples: maize, corn, etc.


Xenogamy

  1. Xenogamy is the transfer of pollen to the stigma of another flower of the different plant.

  2. Cross-pollination and pollen grains are genetically different.

  3. Examples: squash, broccoli, etc.
